Introducing Community Blooms
Here at Matlack Florist, we love to give back whenever we can. As a small, family-owned business, we strive to be active and involved members of our community. To us, that means doing our part to support our neighbors and the work they are doing to help others.
If you’ve been following us for a while, you may be familiar with our Purchase With a Purpose program. The goal of the program is to donate a portion of our profits to community-based charitable organizations.
To better highlight the local and community aspects of the organizations we support and to tie in the industry we know best, we’re rebranding the program! As of June 2023, our donation program is named Community Blooms.
Past Organizations
To kick off Community Blooms, we’re spotlighting the various organizations our customers have contributed to through their Matlack Florist purchases in the past. Home of the Sparrow
Home of the Sparrow’s mission is to partner with women facing homelessness to secure housing, achieve long-term stability, and chart new paths for their futures. https://www.homeofthesparrow.org/

Charles A. Melton Center
The Charles A Melton Arts & Education Center is dedicated to providing the greater West Chester area with a wide variety of low-cost or free programs that focus on the target population of the least, the last, the left out and the left behind, regardless of their ability to pay. https://meltoncenter.org/about/
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
LLS seeks to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families through research, education and support, and policy advocacy. https://www.lls.org/
Chester County Food Bank
The Chester County Food Bank serves over 40,000 people through access to real, healthy food and education and wellness. The CCFB has cultivated a community-centered and holistic approach to not only address emergency needs but also the root causes of chronic food insecurity for households facing unique challenges in Chester County. https://chestercountyfoodbank.org/
Chester County Hero Fund
The Chester County Hero Fund provides necessary financial assistance to the widows, children, and families who are left with little or no support when a police officer, deputy sheriff, firefighter, emergency medical technician, paramedic or state trooper loses their life or is seriously injured in the line of duty. When Hurricane Ida devastated parts of our area in 2021, Matlack donated to The Chester County Hero Fund to support their efforts to help our neighbors in need. https://www.chestercountyherofund.com/
Valentine’s Bouquets for Chester County Nursing Homes
Each Valentine’s Day, a portion of our sales goes towards supporting a donation of bouquets to nursing homes in Chester County.
Upcoming
In honor of Pride Month, the first organization we’re featuring as part of our Community Blooms program will be the LGBT Equality Alliance of Chester County. Based in Phoenixville, the LGBT Equality Alliance of Chester County “fosters inclusivity, well-being, and social justice for the LGBTQ+ community through advocacy and provision of safe, supportive spaces.” The organization hosts numerous events for the community including Pridefest in Phoenixville, Priderun, Outfest in West Chester, and the Love is Love Gala. They also provide funding for LGBTQ+ awareness training, Gay-Straight Alliance Clubs, and student scholarships. For more information about the LGBT Equality Alliance of Chester County, click here.
